Overview

pepperwhite street is a geographic information custom control which adds mapping and GIS functionality to applications written for Windows 3.1+, Windows 95 and Windows NT operating platforms. It is provided with data sufficient to draw maps of the entire United States to side-street level.

The control uses the following action codes to invoke most of the functions provided.

• FindAddress Computes latitude and longitude from a street address or other name data.
• ShowAddress Draws a map centered a street address or other name data.
• PointLoad Marks a user defined point on a map.
• PointGet Returns all attributes of a user defined point.
• PointChange Alters one or more of the attributes of a user defined point.
• PointDelete Removes a point and frees the associated resources.
• PointPopup Causes the built-in point definition dialog box to be displayed
• DeleteAllPoints Deletes all user defined points in one operation.
• ConfigurePopup Causes the built-in map appearance dialog box to be displayed
• Print Sends the current map to the printer.
• CopyToClipboard Sends the current map to the clipboard.
• GetTopLeft Returns the lat/lng coordinates of the upper left viewport corner.
• GetBottomRight Returns the lat/lng coordinates of the lower right viewport corner
• SetConfig Alters a map configuration option (colors, font sizes, etc.)
• GetConfig Retrieves a map configuration option value
• ShowHide Controls the visibility of states on an individual basis.
• SetFromPoint Sets the position from which to measure distances.
• GetDistance Computes the distance from the last 'From point' to the current latitude, longitude position.
• CastBearingLine Determines the latitude and longitude of a position using the lat, lng of a known position, a bearing and a distance.
• PointsInPolygon Lists all user defined point which fall within the specified polygon.
• PolygonsEnclosingPoint Lists all polygons which enclose the specified point.
• PolygonsEnclosingLatLng Lists all user defined polygons which enclose the specified latitude, longitude position.
• MouseToLatLng Returns the latitude, longitude of the current mouse position.
• LatLngToStateCounty Determines the state and county in which the coordinates reside.
• EnumPoints Lists all currently defined user points.
• EnumLines Lists all currently defined user lines.
• EnumPolygons Lists all currently defined user polygons.
• EnumStates Lists name and FIPS code of all states.
• EnumCounties Lists name and FIPS code of all counties in a state.
• DeleteAllLines Deletes all user defined lines.
• DeleteAllPolygons Deletes all user defined polygons.
• DeleteAllObjects Deletes all user defined points, lines and polygons.
• SetThemeMode Enables thematic mapping.
• AddMapLegendEntry Adds an entry to thematic mapping legend.
• SetThemeValue Sets thematic mapping data value for a location.
• GotoStateAbbrev Zooms to the indicated state using state's abbreviation.
• GotoState Zooms to indicated state using state's FIPS code.
• GotoCounty Zooms to indicated county using FIPS code.
• Goto48States Zooms to show coterminous 48 states.
• Goto50States Zooms to show all 50 states.
• GotoLine Zooms to completely contain the indicated user defined line.
• GotoPolygon Zooms to completely contain the indicated user defined polygon.

• ID Unique identifier for a user defined map object
• Latitude Degrees north of the equator
• Location Text describing a place to be searched for

• PrintHeight Selects height of a printed map
• PrintLeft Selects horizontal position of a printed map
• PrintTop Selects vertical position of a printed map

In addition to the standard events supported by most controls, pepperwhite street includes the following special events:

• DelineationConcluded Fired on MouseUp of rubber-banding operation.
• EnumerateString Fired to provide the next item in a list of requested items.
• MapChanged Fired when map is being repainted, typically as the result of a change. Allows you to detect user pan, scroll, zoom and customize activities which occur using the built-in functions of the control.
• MapClick Fired when map is clicked on other than a user defined object.
• MouseLeftPoint Fired when mouse cursor exits a point hotspot.
• MouseOverPoint Fired when mouse cursor enters a point hotspot.
• OutOfArea Fired when required street level data could not be located on disk.
• PointClick Fired when a mouse click occurs with cursor in a point hotspot.

A small group of callable functions is provided by the control to permit the creation and maintenance of lines and polygons. By using callable functions instead of properties, the control enables you to provide all coordinates for a line or polygon in a single operation. Additional functionality is provided by this control via the Action property.
